Inpatient Coder ~ REMOTE

Locations: Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nevada 

Job Type: Temporary Contract, 12 weeks

Hourly Compensation: $38.76

Inpatient Coders Must have high level of surgery cases coding exp to include specialty 

This experience does NOT qualify: Physician office billing, Medical billing, Profee, etc. 

Must be AHIMA -RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, AAPC- CPC certified (send certification with submission) 

Roles & Responsibilities

  •  Contract coders must be able to work independently in a remote setting, with little supervision

  • High speed internet is required – Minimum speed requirements of 10Mbps download and 1Mbps upload.  High speed internet connections are not allowed via satellite.

  • Vendor Auditor MUST complete Monthly audits should be 3% of volume and demonstrate a minimum of 95% accuracy. Based on typical coder volume 3% would be 6-10 charts per month.

  • Coder or Vendor must provide equipment and internet, additional information will be provided

  • Remote capability – Contract coders must have their own computer equipment

  • After orientation and prebill review, coders may work a flexible schedule during Business hours (6am to 5pm CST). Schedule must be approved by Manager

  • Orientation is done via skype – (coder never required to work on site)

  • Prefer coders with experience with Meditech, 3M, One Content, Kronos, Epic

  • Submit candidats that are temo to perm and live in a Christus approved state.

  • Indicate on Non-Clinical Submission Coversheet- State coder resides in

  • If selecting a large group of coders,prefer to onboard as a group to limit orientation sessions

  • Require Contract coders to have at least one coding credential;AHIMA-RHIA,RHIT,CCS,CCA,AAPC- CPC (send certification with submission)

  • No offshore coders allowed (Domestic/US based only)

  • There is a potential that contract coders would be assigned to different regions/facilities

  • Contract coders will be required to code high $$accounts, Trauma, Highly skilled Expert Coders

  • Christus Internal coding assessment required foronboarding – Must pass with 90% accuracy

  • If the coder passes the assessment, set up aphone interview as next steps

  • Contract coders are encouraged to attendChristus coding monthly roundtables and section meetings

  • MCI request will be submitted when compliance is completed

  • All coders need to maintain a 95% or > coding accuracy

Outpatient Coder ~ REMOTE

Roles & Responsibilities

 

 

  • Responsible for maintaining current and high quality ICD-10-CM and CPT coding of all outpatient diagnoses and operative procedures. 
  • Coders will be working our follow-up denials to help us clean that up and that will include surgery codes. 
  • Multiple specialties: Cardio, gastro, rheumatology, ortho, primary care, urgent care, neurology, pulmonology, sleep, pain, behavioral health, Critical Care, Endo, ENT, Urology, general surgery, OBGYN, Hepatology, hospitalist, infectious disease, NICU, Ophthalmology, trauma, and would care.
  • We only code professional visits if one of our physicians go to the ED and see the pt. We do not bill very many ED
  • Will work in EPIC/Meditech

  • Accurately assigns appropriate modifiers to CPT codes.

  • Enters accounts into Medical Records Hold when furtherdocumentation or charge corrections are required.

  • Communicates with physicians regarding coding andsequencing questions in individual cases.

  • Reviews medical records to assure accurateadmit/discharge dates, and verifies all outpatient orders are signed withdiagnosis.

  • This includes assisting various departments with codingand charging issues, including Admitting and Patient Billing. Assists theAdmissions

  • Department with Medical Necessity issues and questions.

  • Assists in other areas of the department asrequested.

  • Reviews all X-Ray, CT, and Ultrasound reports fordiagnoses.

  • Accurately abstracts all Outpatient codes into theCPSI/Evident computer system, including Lab, Radiology, Cancer Center, allFamily and

  • Verify all outpatient orders are complete with accuratediagnosis for test/procedure being performed.

  • Certifications CPC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCA certificationrequired

  • Experience 1 year of outpatient coding experiencepreferred.

  • Rural Healthcare Clinics, Physical Therapy, and Emergency Roomvisits and procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining the unbilled accounts reporton a daily basis.

  • Education/ Skills CPC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCAcertification required. Must have knowledge of medical record content withexcellent command of medical terminology and understanding of basic anatomy,physiology and disease processes. 

  • Must know how to operate basic officemachines including copier, scanner and computer keyboard.

  • Work with held bill report for all outpatient visitsand/or procedures.

  • Accurately codes all diagnoses and procedures on alloutpatient visits.

  • Also codes some Inpatient Psych and Inpatient Rehabaccounts.

  • Verifies charges are correct on all Outpatient Accounts.

  • Included in Outpatient coding are all Laboratory,Radiology, recurring Nursing Home, Outpatient Clinic visits, surgery,professional hospital rounding E/M charges, Physical Therapy and E/R visits.
